It's interesting to see in my TBR pile what genres and types of books build up... Obviously, I like to read what I like to read - no modern crime fiction or war stories here - but I've been noticing certain patterns in my bedside piles. For example:

Steampunk/Alternate History

Boneshaker - Cherie Priest
The Affinity Bridge - George Mann
The Ulysses Quicksilver Omnibus (Pax Britannia) - Jonathan Green
Temeraire - Naomi Novik
Oscar Wilde and the Ring of Death - Gyles Brandreth
Oscar Wilde and the Dead Man's Smile - Gyles Brandreth (I love these!)
The Diamond Age - Neal Stephenson (okay, maybe more science-punk)
The Grand Tour (Sorcery and Cecilia Book 2) - Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
The Mislaid Magician (Sorcery and Cecilia Book 3) - Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters - G. W. Dahlquist

Fantasy Masterworks/Classic Fantasy (mostly thanks to Hay)

The Chronicles of Amber Omnibus - Roger Zelazny
The Worm Ouroborous - E. R. Eddison
Magician - Raymond E. Feist
The Book of the New Sun Vol 1 - Gene Wolfe
Viriconium - M. John Harrison

Arthurian Retellings

The Winter King - Bernard Cornwell
The Raven Warrior - Alice Borchardt
The Green Pearl (Lyonesse II) - Jack Vance
Madouc (Lyonesse III) - Jack Vance
The White Raven - Diana L. Paxson
(and non-fiction, Geoffrey Ashe's The Quest for Arthur's Britain)

Not to mention modern fantasy classics (Rothfuss, Abercrombie, Martin, Tchaikovsky), Sherlock Holmes-related things (knock off stories, Sherlock Holmes and Philosophy), books about the Romans (mostly course related, some more general, like Robin Lane Fox), and books about fairy tales and linguistics.

And of course, your standard smattering of random non-fiction (The Real Brideshead, The Invention of Murder), random sci-fi, fantasy and normal fiction, and the odd non-Roman or Arthurian historical fiction.

This has been a somewhat obvious insight into my reading habits. Thank you and goodnight.
