"A dish fit for the gods"

So, birthday cake!

My mum loves Japanese snow monkeys. They bathe in the hot pools in the mountains when it's cold, and they're really cute :) They look like this, normally:

Mine are rather more cartoonified, and I'm sure that the real monkeys don't need cocktail sticks to hold their heads onto their bodies, but I'm pleased with it! Here are some other pictures of the cake:

 

 It was a lemon sponge with lemon and orange curd filling... 

 With chocolate cupcake rocks :)

 

It's so nice to have an oven again! Any recommendations for what to make next?
